Art should be fun, do it for your self.
Do it for the sheer pleasure of creating - I do.

Julian’s interest with art started right back during his childhood, drawing African animals. His drawing skills and interest was further developed and fostered through his formative school years.

Currently Julian's works with acrylics and oils, which was not so much a natural progression but a conscious thought. He simply woke up one morning and said, “Today I buy an easel and brushes and I paint”.

This new journey began with texture and colour. “It’s a journey without end - my work today is more internalised, a result of my reflections rather than external influences of a material kind.”

Julian believes firmly that ‘labelling ones work is better left to the critiques, art is felt, a passion - not a label selected from a series of pigeon holes.’

Julian’s inspirations include Van Gough, Dali, Gleeson & Picasso. Each of these artists were quite different and yet very simular and like the universe they set or knew no boundaries. This is the credo that drives the inspiration behind Julian Rich’s creations.
