Penelope Wood
Mixed Medium Artist
Unique sculptural works of tranquil rhythm
Penelope Wood combines her love of nature’s grace and form, with tribal and Japanese influences. She creates gracious interpretations of fish, birds and flora reflecting natural shapes and classic curves in rich earthy tones.
Her work consists of artwork, printmaking, collage and rare papers combined with items of native flora, mixed media and various finishes. These are unique creations of rustic quality that vary in shape and size to over a metre.
Following a creative upbringing in Clontarf, Sydney, Penelope studied art and design at the National Art School, then in 1970 travelled to Europe and London where she lived, and worked as a designer for six years. In Sydney 1976-2001, Penelope worked as design director for top companies including her own, and as a part time design lecturer in the late 90’s.
Since travelling to the Mid North Coast in 2001 Penelope’s love of design, gracious form and beautiful papers has culminated to create unique works of ’Tribal Grace.’
Since 2002 Penelope’s works have been exhibited in Galleries along the east coast of Australia, selling nationwide to locals and travellers alike, from NZ, USA, UK and Europe.
