WENDY O’BRIEN

My interests have always revolved around anything creative. It is just a way of life and wonderful in the sense that there are never enough hours in the day. Also a love of the outdoors and participating in local sport has influenced my work.

Except for a few community classes later in life, I am basically self taught. Working with acrylics has given me the freedom to express my emotions as I work quickly and with great intensity. Loose memory sketches and unconscious directions capture that special something helping to make my work spontaneous and original.

Experimenting with mixed media also brings me much pleasure, as the possibilities are boundless. Using texture and the process of layering and erasure combined with my imagination is so unpredictable and exciting. This has prompted me to move more towards abstraction. My subject matter varies greatly as I enjoy the challenge of trying something new.

Above all, I hope my passion for art will always be there, and others will enjoy my work.
